Ultimate Guide to Booking a Scottish Golf Trip in 2026 with Scottish Links Golf Tours
6 April 2025Golf in the Highlands with Scottish Links Golf Tours
There’s something about a golf trip through the Scottish Highlands that stays with you — the scenery, the courses, the camaraderie, and, of course, the pints. We recently hit the road for a fantastic few days of golf, good food, and unforgettable company, starting on the coast at Moray and finishing up in Golspie.
Day One: Moray Golf Club
We kicked things off with a day at Moray Golf Club, playing both the Old and New courses. The Old, a Old Tom Morris classic, was in exceptional condition, offering a true links test right along the Moray Firth. The New provided a great contrast, and set the tone for a tour filled with variety and character.
Playing at Royal Dornoch
After the rounds, we headed north to Royal Dornoch, checking into the Royal Golf Hotel Apartments — the perfect base for golf in Sutherland. That evening we tucked into a cracking curry at Highland Spice — highly recommended if you’re in town and looking to spice up your trip.
Hidden Gem in the Highlands: Portmahomack Golf Club
The next day took us to Portmahomack Golf Club, a beautiful 9-holer perched above the Dornoch Firth with views that rival any in Scotland. Then it was on to Tain Golf Club, a James Braid layout, offering classic Highland golf with firm fairways and welcoming greens. Dinner at Dornoch Castle that evening lived up to the setting — and a few well-earned pints followed at The Eagle Hotel, where we bumped into Fraser from Silver Swan, our trusted executive travel partner. Always good to catch up on the road!
Final Stop: Golspie Golf Club
We wrapped up our trip with a round at Golspie Golf Club. It’s a course that often flies under the radar but delivers a brilliant mix of links, heathland, and parkland. A fitting end to a tour that showcased the diversity and charm of Highland golf.
